I have re-organised things a bit - look at the Doll House section. This way you will be able to see just where each room is situated, then you can see it in more detail. Not all rooms have been uploaded as yet - they are not fit to be seen as yet. No rooms are completely finished - there is always space for a new cushion, vase or picture, LOL!

What a wonderful weekend! On Saturday I drove my mom, Shirley, and our friend, Shirley, to the DAME Show. While I was disappointed in not being able to get the items on my "Needy" list, I did find a few treasures. I had vowed to only buy items that could find a home in my dolls house - so I bought: - a box of books and a cheap printed carpet which I am going to chop in half, add fringing, roll up and stand in a corner of the attic.
- some beautiful beads that will become ornate jars to stand to the mantleshelf in the diningroom. - a laser cut wooden shelf kit that, with a small alteration, will hang on the study wall and hold some beautiful hand blown decanters which have been kept in their tissue paper wrappings since I bought them at the Kensington Show 3 years ago! The 2 Shirley's stayed the night and on Sunday we had a lovely time dressing a doll each in a "Marie Antoinette" style. There was much laughter over the unwieldy skirts that were in style in 1775! Pictures coming soon! My "large" life has been occupying all my time over the last few months. However, even in "large" life precious little things arrive. My secretary, Melissa, was safely delivered of a gorgeous little girl, Madison, on 25th October. Welcome to the world Madison! (Congratulations to Mom & Dad as well!)
I can't believe it's August already! They say that time goes by faster the older you get. I guess that's true - but I feel the same as last year; or 10 years ago for that matter.
I've really been busy since my last post... Last year when I went to the Kensington Show, I bought some really special wallpaper, intending to rip out the panelling in my dollshouse halls and replace with cream paper at the top and green and gold on the bottom half. Well - its done! A very difficult job as now the stairs, windows and door frames are glued in and refuse to budge! I'm very happy with the result however, even though I strained all the muscles over my left shoulderblade and ached for about six weeks!!!!! I have also dressed a few dolls: - a little Victorian Teenager with her own dollie in a Di Yunnie class - "Titania" (a fantasy / Medieval queen) and a few others to be put up in the "Doll Diaries" shortly. I still have to do "Corsette", the final Bride in Dana Burton's Bride series; as well as her mermaid class. I have also enrolled in Dana's "Mist and Magic" online theme. I have to design and make a doll in the Medival / fantasy theme, which I have already decided to call "Bryony". Keep checking this site - there will be lots of eye candy as well as tutorials and classes! TTFN Well, March just disappeared before I had time to sit down and breathe!
My mom, some friends and I went to the first ever Miniatures Convention in Cape Town from the 17th to 19th March; where we were so welcomed! For two and a half days we attended workshops where we mini-ed from 8.30am to 6.00pm. In that time I managed to make: a pot of orchids, a picnic hamper, another doll-in-a-box, Raggedy Anne and a wedding cake. On the 20th, we attended the Auction, where my Crinoline Bride sold for R750.00. (Sue - please take care of my precious!) My 1885 Bride did not meet her reserve price - so I gladly brought her home! I have also completed Bride # 2 in Dana Burton's series - Tansy and am eagerly awaiting the Bride # 3 workshop in April. Also to do in April - the Autumn Swap for the on-line South African minis. I haven't yet decided what to make as my contribution. Over the Easter Weekend I finally started to work on the white dolls that Diane Yunnie has made for me. I know exactly how I want to dress them - in the style of Victoria Frances' Victorian Gothic Vampires and have been collecting luxury fabric and trims for ages! February has been absolutely crazy!!
I participated in the South African Minis Birthday cake swap (we are are 7 years old this year!) Below is a photo of the beautiful cake and accessories I received from my swap partner Oriana Ferracini. I have also made and submitted 2 dolls to the Somerset West Miniatures Auction to be held on 20th March 2010. Please see photo's of the 1860's Crinoline Bride and the 1885 Bride in my Doll Diaries! Dianne Yunnie also held a "Doll in a Box" workshop this month which was loads of fun. As soon as I have finished mine I'll be putting up photo's. Also still to do is "Evangeline" which is a doll workshop by Dana Burton I have uploaded a new page - GUEST ALBUM so that I can display YOUR work. Send me an e-mail with a photo of your masterpiece!
I have just uploaded the patterns for my ladies in ballgowns and the new bride! Go to the Tutorials page to find them.
