Bridal Mannequin
I wanted to make a Bride, but didn't have a kit with a face with the correct "look" - so I dressed a mannequin instead.
The mannequin is a Chrysnbon dressmakers dummy covered in pink dupion silk.
The bodice and underskirt are made of white Dupion silk. (I love Dupion silk for its luxurious sheen and use it as often as I can)
The hem of the skirt is trimmed with pleated white cotton lace and guipure trim.
The overskirt and sleeves are white cotton net which I obtained from an old creamy wedding dress bought from a Hospice shop. Every now and then I chop a bit off, then wash, bleach and sometimes dye with food colouring!
The net is slightly ruched at the sides and is longer at the back where it forms a small train. the hem is edged with another row of guipure trim; as are the sleeves and waist. White silk ribbon bows adorn the hem, shoulders and back waist.
The wedding cake in the background was also made by me from FIMO. I'm planning on making another and taking step-by-step photos in order to write a tutorial to put up on this site.
