Lady Gentian
Lady Gentian is another kit by Dianne Yunnie. For years I had saved a picture from a Miniature Doll magazine of a lady in a white dress accessorised with violet coloured trimmings and I have finally recreated her here.
Milady wears a white dupion silk dress covered with swiss embroidered lace purchased at the Kensington Dollhouse Festival in May 2009. Her jacket is also white dupion silk, with giant lapels in violet silk. The same silk is used for her parasol and hat.
Paper flowers decorate her belt and wide hat. These flowers were pink originally, but then I dipped them in water before just touching their edges to a purple felt tip pen.
Lady Violet Gentian gets her name from the stuff I used to dye her dress and ribbons - Gentian Violet! (The pattern for her dress has now been uploaded under the TUTORIALS section!)
