Victorian Bride
This Bride is wearing a gown which was very fashionable in the 1870's. The pale cream satin underskirt and bodice are overlaid with old cream coloured lace. The lace is one of my "finds" - at the miniature club I belong to; we have a "Grabs Table", where members dump their old junk and we are able to help ourselves to whatever we want! Like the saying "one mans junk ....".
The lace on the skirt has been treated in a "Pretty Pleater" by Anne d Ruff and then draped to fit the skirt, with the pleats "stretched" slightly over the front and then gathered tightly at the back to form the bustle. The pleats at the back are controlled by a large satin bow .
The bodice is tightly fitted to her body and then trimmed with cream silk bows.
Her bouquet, dress trimmings and hair flowers are made of tiny handmade Fimo roses and white flowers. Her veil of fine silk tulle is attached near the top of her neck in order to display her intricate hairstyle.
She wears a pearl necklace and pearls are also scattered in her deep auburn hair.
